Saturday, May 18, 2019, all museums in Lyon will be open for a unique experience.

 

La Nuit Européenne des Musées is celebrating its 15th birthday this year.

Saturday, May, 18, all museums in France and Europe will be open, free of admission, until 1:00 am to purpose evening entertainment, museum visits, track games, workshops, etc.

This event is organized by the Ministry of Culture in France. This is an inescapable meeting of the spring cultural landscape in Europe. More than 3000 museums are part of the event across the continent.

Each collaborating establishment is in charge of creating an event for this occasion, in collaboration with many talented artists from diverse backgrounds. Museums’ collections are highlighted in an original way to make your experience unique.

Nuit des musées 2019 in Lyon – Program

Lyon Museum of Contemporary Art

1 ado/ 1 oeuvre
From 6:30 to 8:30 pm, a wandering will take place in the Lyon Museum of Contemporary Art. François Stemmer and a group of young people from 16 to 21 years old will tell the story of the meeting between a piece of art and a teenager. During the show, dance, singing, words, graffiti, etc. will be in the limelight in front of the museum’s artworks.

This artistic performance has been created by François Stemmers and youngsters.

Lyon Fine Arts Museum

For the edition of 2019, the Lyon Fine Arts Museum will be animated by students from ENSSIB school.
For this occasion, many workshops are organized in the museum:

  • Memes creation in connection with romantic sculptures of the museum,
  • Dramatic play around the theme of embalming in the sarcophagi room,
  • Telling of the tale “La Fabuleuse Histoire de Blanche et Prince Eric » inspired by the paintwork in the Italian painting gallery,
  • Discoveries of tea ceremonies in Japan and Taiwan, poetry reading, etc.

From 7:30 pm to midnight.
Free admission in the museum’s collection, temporary exhibition not accessible.

Gadagne Historical Museums

“Gadagne sort le grand jeu !”

This year, the Gadagne Historical Museums goes all out! The team cooked some new games and enigmas in the heart of the museum.
For this occasion, children will have the opportunity to discover some famous Lyonnaises figures like L’Abbé Pierre, Guignol… through games in the museums.

For gamers, the Labyrinth of the museum is waiting for you.

“Memory of clandestine Dances” is a show out of standards where personal memories and live music are combined to offer you a unique experience.

La parole aux archives !
” Archives’ voice ” workshop is divided into two parts: exhibition visits and readings of some selected documents by two comedians.

Game: résistance à Lyon.
Come and discover historical figures and anecdotes about the French Resistance in Lyon.

Comment c’était, la vi(ll)e, avant ?
” How was life in town before?” is a workshop that invites children to discover the daily life of a family during the WWII period.

Musée des Confluences

This year at Le Musée des Confluences, an original trail in connexion with the exhibition Coléoptères, Insectes Extraordinaires.

Different animations are organized for this occasion: giant insects invasion, insects tasting, jewelry creations with beetle’s elytra, origami workshop, screening of “Green Porno”, a collection of short films by Isabella Rossino and many other activities.

You can also discover the permanent and temporary exhibitions: Yokainoshima, Esprits du Japon et Fêtes Himalayennes, Les Derniers Kalash.
