End of Term Exams at Lyon 2 Will Not Run on Europa League Final Day
The Université Lumière-Lyon 2 has decided to move exams scheduled for May 16, stating that it cannot ensure the security of its students with Lyon’s police diverted to the Europa League match.
The Europa League Final is scheduled to be held at Lyon’s Groupama Stadium in Décines on Tuesday, while Lyon 2 final exams are scheduled for May 14-25th.
Lyon is preparing for high security surrounding the match, because of the existing tensions between the Olympique de Marseille and the Olympique Lyonnais.
Expecting an influx of Marseille supporters, security will be tripled or even quadrupled from that of a normal match.
Meanwhile at the university, students are preparing for their exams after a month of strikes that suspended classes and closed the school.
Following the strikes and with Lyon’s police force occupied by the football game, the university administration is taking precautions to make sure things run smoothly.
Exams will be held as planned the 14-25th, while exams scheduled for the 16th will be moved to Saturday, May 19 or the following week.
Throughout the exam period students will need to present their student card to administrative officials to enter the buildings.
