A city walk in English is the highlight of Lyon Part-Dieu’s “Journées Portes Ouvertes”

As part of Lyon Part-Dieu’s reconstruction, the Open House weekend will give visitors a chance to better understand what the project is all about.

Learn about the Part-Dieu renovation plans in English on Saturday, June 2. As part of the “Journées Portes Ouvertes” on June 2-3, the Lyon Part-Dieu team is offering an English city walk in partnership with This is Lyon.

The construction at Part-Dieu began earlier this year and will take about five years to complete. The end result will be a much more livable quarter of the city.

The tour will take participants around the neighborhood of Part-Dieu to all the major spots of the reconstruction to better explain what’s happening and why.

Part-Dieu is the second largest business district in France and the train station is the leading interchange station in Europe. The major construction project launched earlier this year seeks to redo the area and make it a more pleasant place to live and work.

The English walk takes place on Saturday at 3 p.m., with a meeting place at the “Maison du Projet” (192 Rue Garibaldi, 69003). Sign-ups are required and can be found here.

As part of the open house weekend, the Maison du Projet will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday for visitors to come see models and videos about the project.

Meanwhile, children ages 6-13 can team up with their parents for a photo contest. Take a photo in the part of the neighborhood that best matches up to the five puzzles given out at the Maison du Projet and compete to win a prize! Sign-ups can be found here.

In addition to the English tour there are other tours held in French, including a rooftop tour that allows participants to take pictures of Lyon from up high.
