Profile

The French Translators’ Society was founded in 1947 to defend the interests of translators and interpreters and to promote the translation profession. It has over 1500 members and represents the many facets of the profession in France: freelance translators, employees, court-certified legal experts, conference interpreters, technical and literary translators, students and faculty. The SFT is the largest group of professionals in the sector in France. It is also a founding member of the International Federation of Translators (FIT) and a member of the National Union of Independent Professionals (UNAPL). It works in close collaboration with several institutional partners including schools and universities committed to training the translators of the future.
