The Epicerie Moderne

The Epicerie Moderne: Live music and an eclectic mix of cultural events.

The Epicerie Moderne is a unique music venue located in Feyzin, just south of Lyon and is home to an eclectic program of live concerts, art exhibitions, artist residencies and special events.

Venue History

Created in 2005 by members of the local community and the city of Feyzin, within the framework of the music association AMAF (Association Musiques Actuelles de Feyzin). A team of 8 dedicated professionals led by Program Director Damien Debard, have invested their time and energy to put in place a unique structure providing a home to various musical and cultural activities. Since 2015 the Epicerie Moderne has also been part of SMAC, a local agglomeration of venues including Periscope, Marché Gare and Project Bizarre.

Live Music

Epicerie Moderne features an eclectic mix of concerts appealing to music fans of all ages and tastes, including pop, hip hop, world music, metal, rock, folk, soul and more. Recent concerts include: Brain Jonestown Massacre, Dandy Warhols, Melvins, Les Innocents and Calexico.
Certain events at the Epicerie take the form of a cross between a conference and a concert, resulting in an entertaining and informative evening that include film and photography projections, discussions with the artists and of course music.

Cultural activities

What makes Epicerie Modern so special is it’s unique mix of cultural events. There are regular art exhibitions often involving participation with children and during the summer months there is a series of open air concerts taking place in the gardens of local area residents.
