The Grand Hotel Dieu - Lyon Festival of Lights 2017

The Grand Hotel Dieu is taking on a whole lot of colour.

The long facade of Lyon’s oldest hospital (from 11th century) is illuminated from 4 to 29 December.

You must go to the quay opposite, on the other side of the Rhone, to discover this classic monument of Lyon, currently under construction to become a hotel and a centre of art de vivre.

Lighting designer Daniel Knipper and artist Laurent Langlois traced the history of the building (which used to a hospital and abbey) to aid their illumination.
