Video: study abroad, in Lyon (France)

Published: 2017/11/04
September 2016 to August 2017 was both the hardest and most rewarding year of my life so far. It was the year I traveled to a plethora of countries and cities.

It was the year I made some of my best friends (corny but true). It was, in short, the most incredible and unbelievable experience I could have asked for.

To this day I still can’t believe it was all real. That September to August was the year I studied abroad in Lyon, and it was the year that “studying” meant so much more than sitting in a classroom discussing important French writers of the 18th century (I’m looking at you, Beaumarchais).

When I returned to the United States, I had too many pictures to count, and no idea what to do with them.

I wanted to create something that embodied the overwhelming happiness, incredulity, and nostalgia I feel when I look at them, all at once.

I wanted the photos to express emotion, and in my experience the best way to do that is through music.

So I organized my photos, added in some video, and searched through mounds of copyright-free songs. This video took so much longer to create than I thought it would, but it was definitely worth the effort.
