Lyon’s Jazz Festival – A Vaulx Jazz 2019
Lyon’s Jazz Festival
This year’s itinerary shows that jazz as a genre is as lively as ever with a range of groups covering various generations, styles and influences.
Intimate styles, big bands, acoustic and electric – the jazz at A Vaux Jazz Festival has it all, placing Lyon once again at the forefront of improvised music.
The performances will take place between the 11th and 30th March 2019 at the Centre Culturel Charlie Chaplin in Vaulx-en-Velin.
This is Lyon’s Selection of Who You Should See
Trance Jazz – On Thursday 21st March, an evening bringing together the rhythms of Ethiopian Jazz and its psychedelic trances will take place. Warning- a downpour of energy is forecast.
Ukandanz – “Gesse” –
Hip hop is the new jazz – Hip hop is undoubtedly jazz’s younger brother. This evening, on 23rd March 2019 will be the opportunity to listen to jazz’s successor!
Nik Bartsch – The festival concludes on Saturday 30th March with the incredible Swiss pianist Nik Bartsch. The leader of the self proclaimed ‘zen funk’ gang – which includes Steve reich and James Brown – the music possesses a hypnotic power.
Melaine de Biasio – The Belgian singer and flautist will fill the room with her delicate style of jazz-electronic music. Her music – centred in emotion, with profound vocals – intimately touches its listener.
There will also be plenty of after parties across the city following A Vaux Jazz. All the information is available on the festival’s website.
