Open Water Swimming Down the Rhône River

Lyon’s Rhône river, which the competitors will be swimming down.

On 20th January 2019, swimmers will be crossing Lyon from the Cité Internationale (Pont Poincaré) to Confluence (Pont Raymond Barre) by swimming down the freezing cold Rhône River.

Reckon You’re a Strong Swimmer?

You can sign up online to participate in this year’s competition. For the best swimmers, the 8km long swim will take around 1 hour, but of course, it can take significantly longer for other participants.

39th Annual Crossing of Lyon

Organised by Thalassa’s diving club, the 39-year-old event has become well-known amongst residents. So even if you’re not into swimming, you could always watch the athletes from the left-bank of the Rhône.
