Open Water Swimming Down the Rhône River
Lyon’s Rhône river, which the competitors will be swimming down.
On 28th January 2023, swimmers will be crossing Lyon from the Cité Internationale (Pont Poincaré) to Confluence (Pont Raymond Barre) by swimming down the freezing cold Rhône River.

You can sign up online to participate in this year’s competition. For the best swimmers, the 8km long swim will take around 1 hour, but of course, it can take significantly longer for other participants.
42nd Annual Crossing of Lyon
Organised by Thalassa’s diving club, the 42-year-old event has become well-known amongst residents. So even if you’re not into swimming, you could always watch the athletes from the left-bank of the Rhône.
