Hôtel-de-Ville to Parc de la Tête d’Or – Fête des Lumières 2019

From the blue and white of the Hotel de Ville lights radiating out into Place des Terreaux, a self-described « poetic walk » along the banks of the Saône, to the vast garden of Neo-futuristic installations at Lyon’s penultimate Park de la tête d’Or. Here is our walking guide to the 2019 Lyon’s Festival of Lights from Hôtel-de-Ville to Parc de la Tête d’Or.

Théâtr’Eaux – Place Louis Pradel

Sure to be the most exciting place to be during the Fête des lumières, stop by the Théâtr’Eaux or the Place des Terreaux to experience the center of the action for the Fete.

After finishing your promener through the area, walk along one of the sides of the Hôtel-de-Ville until you reach the illuminated Place Louis Pradel.

Place Louis Pradel – Berges du Rhône

Once there, six dazzlingly lit chandlers lay in waiting for eager eyes — a beautiful place to find some repose from all of the overwhelming nature of the Fête’s lights.

Designed like an invisible ceiling of some grand ballroom has fallen to earth, it will be a pleasant place to simply hang out and rest. Once you’ve gotten your energy up, make your way towards the Pont Morand to the east.

Berges du Rhône -Parc de la Tête d’Or

As you come upon the Pont Morand and the large expanse of the Rhône, along the Quai to the north, you should see the full promenade lit decorated like dreamy insect garden.
