The long weekends mean lots of festivals: from Lyon Improv Fest (4th-11th May) which is perfect for drama lovers, to the street art festival Peinture Fraiche (3rd-12th May), to the party that Nuits Sonores music festival brings (28th May-2nd June).
Aside from festivals, there’s plenty of fun sport on offer. Don’t just head to the gym to exercise. Take part in the zombie course in the fort outside Lyon (3rd-4th May). Or run as part of the Courir Pour Elles (19th May) or Ultra Boucle de la Sarra (17th-18th May) races.
Nuits Sonore’s 17th edition takes place from 28th May until 2nd June 2019, with lots of electronic music nights and daytime debates at the European Lab Camp.
Participate in Lyon’s Zomb’in the dark and choose to flee zombies, or join them.
The street art festival will take place from 3rd to 12th May 2019, with live art and workshops.

Courir Pour Elles is an annual race in Lyon, taking place in May. This year’s race is set for 19th May 2019.
Lyon’s Improv Fest makes its return this year from 4th-11th May 2019, with the opening and closing nights taking place at Lyon’s Comédie Odéon. Improv shows are all in English!
