Best Beer Spots in Lyon Croix-Rousse and Les Pentes
Brewery in Lyon Croix-Rousse
Tom & CO, the only brewer in Croix-Rousse
Les Pentes has its very own brewery! Opened in summer 2018 by Scottish husband Tom and French wife Coline, this micro-brewery makes delicious organic beers and has growlers so you can get more beer for less. They always have a blanche, a sour blonde, an amber IPA, and a tripel, as well as a seasonal beer.

Beer Bottle Shops in Lyon Croix-Rousse
Cave Hoppy Days, craft beers and charcuterie
Brand new in the Croix-Rousse is bottle shop Hoppy Days. It boasts a selection of craft beers from mostly Europe.
Owner Gildas is super nice and helpful, presiding over his growing list, as well as two taps and charcuterie from next door Sibilia. This has been my go-to since opening at the end of the summer.
1 Rue d’Austerlitz, Lyon 69004
La Crafterie, for a growler selection
500+ permanent listings are just the beginning at this craft beer shop, they also have 12 growlers that vary between €8-16 a liter.
They can speak English, and their Facebook page is always current with the latest news and growler selection. A very cool spot that will always have something new and interesting.
4 Place Tobie Robatel, 69001 Lyon
405 Une Boutique des Bières, a store with 900 beers
Huge store with at least 900 beers, this place is sure to have all the answers. They even have some American stuff that was hard for me to find when I lived in California! They also have 405 Bar à Bières on 9 Rue Constantine in the 1st.
1 Rue Sainte-Marie-des-Terreaux, 69001 Lyon
Le Diable Rouge, ultimate reference for Belgian brews
With over 400 different beers, this established bottle shop is your ultimate reference for Belgian brews. With a large choice of glassware, as well as a big selection of large format bottles (magnums etc), this is the spot for the Belgian beer buyer.

My best Beer Bars in Lyon Croix-Rousse
Dikkennek, a Belgian Bar in Croix-Rousse
Named after the cult comedy film, this Belgian bar is a Croix-Rousse staple. With plenty of seating inside and out on the terrace, Dikkenek boasts a large selection of taps and bottles.
The charcuterie board is always good, with saussicon, baguette (good baguette too, not the fluffy stuff), and the option of 2 dips. While the owners are Belgian, the beer is from all over the world and they always have a few guest beers.
3 Rue d’Austerlitz, Lyon 69004
Paddy’s Corner, a family friendly Irish pub
With their huge terrace and proper Irish pub interiors (as well as anglophone staff) this is a great choice for expats and tourists alike.
This is a family friendly place, and is a great spot to let your children roam free to cause chaos on the Place de Tapis, affectionately known as ‘the peanuts’ by my favorite expat children. Pub Quiz on Tuesday is a favorite!
4 Rue de la Terrasse, Lyon 69004
DAM’s Pub, pizza and beer on Place Sathonay
Come here for pizza and beer on the terrace overlooking the lovely Place Sathonay. They do have some craft beer, Belgian, and also beers like Corona and Budweiser if that’s your thing.
Staff speak English, Spanish, and Dutch. The best thing about this place is that they serve their pizzas continuously, no break between lunch and dinner!
4 Place Sathonay, 69001 Lyon
The Wall, sports bar on the Place de la Croix-Rousse
New as of winter 2018, The Wall is a sports bar with fifteen taps. Their selection is interesting and well curated, and the guys that run it are laid back and friendly.
Also open during the day, you can have a drink on their terrace on the Place de La Croix-Rousse after shopping at the market, or at their picnic tables outside the bar. This place has a lot of energy at night, and I’d recommend it for students. Big screen tv for sports ball lovers.
4 Place de la Croix-Rousse, 69004 Lyon
Le Palais de la Bière, 15 taps of artisanal beer
This place looks like any other French bistro, the kind of place you’d see old men having a demi in the morning at, except that it’s so much more than that!
With 15 taps of artisanal beer, you aren’t allowed to order until the barman makes you taste at least three beers. He is seriously knowledgeable, and when you’re in here you know you’re part of something special.
