Over 6 or 24 hours, explore the slopes of Fourvière hill in Lyon with the Ultra Boucle de la Sarra.
Year after year, the Ultra Boucle de la Sarra is becoming a staple of the long-distance running scene and once again tackles the slopes of Fourvière in Lyon on May 25-26.
The event is an interesting mix of timed races and urban trails, along a circuit of 2 kilometers and 90 meters of ascendant elevation, up and down the Fourvière hill for as long as 24 hours.
It features many kinds of surfaces, between pavement, cobblestones, stairs and grass.
Participate in the Ultra Boucle de la Sarra by yourself or in a group
The Ultra Boucle de la Sarra offers categories of different lenght and size. The most accessible format lasts for 6 hours, and you can race by yourself, as a group of 2 or a group of 3.
However, the 24-hour race is the main event of the Ultra Boucle de la Sarra, and is exclusive to solo competitors. As evidence of its success, winning this category has become a qualifier to the Ultra Trail du Mont-Blanc, one of the world’s most renowned long-distance running competitions.
The organization, Lyon Ultra Run (which also coordinates the Lyon Urban Trail), has put a lot of effort into the making of the Ultra Boucle de la Sarra, with a red carpet, music and illumination of the start/finish line, not to mention the new torch-lit start of the 24-hour race.
Runners explore the most iconic places of the Fourvière hill
The Ultra Boucle de la Sarra explores every inch of the Fourvière hill and the 5th arrondissement of Lyon.
The contestants will have to run a large number of times along the Chemin de Montauban, on their way to the 600 hundreds steps of the Montée Nicolas de Lange, lit with 650 « lumignons » for the event.
Racing on the Passerelle des Quatre Vents, in the middle of the Parc des Hauteurs, offers a beautiful view on the Basilica Notre Dame de Fourvière, overlooking the city of Lyon.
