“Les Fêtes Consulaires” Discovery Weekend Kicks Off June 23-24

The consulates of Lyon will gather at Bellecour to share their respective countries with the city

 

The “Fêtes Consulaires” will celebrate the many consulates present in Lyon and give visitors an opportunity to learn about countries around the world.

 

This year’s Fêtes Consulaires will take place in Bellecour from June 23-24. The celebration is a way to present countries from around the world to the residents of Lyon.

The festival will be inaugurated on Friday, June 22 at 4 p.m. Saturday’s plans include shows, parades, villages, stands, and more.

Saturday marks the “Fête des Bannières du Monde. ” A country village will be installed at Place Antonin Poncet on the eastern edge of Bellecour from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and there will be a parade down the Rue de la République at 3:30 p.m.

Following the parade is a rally at Place Bellcour and individual association shows, starting at 4:30 p.m.

The Fêtes Consulaires were started as an opportunity for people to come learn more about countries and cultures near and far, connecting Lyon to the greater world. The festival is free to everyone.
