Benjamin Whitmer is coming to meet his Lyonnais fans

Benjamin Whitmer is coming to Rive Gauche library in Lyon on October 4th as Quai du Polar’s star author for this fall.

Benjamin Whitmer is an American author who grew up in Ohio and the state of New York. After having written many articles and stories for anthologies and magazines, he published his first novel, Pike, in 2010.
He now lives in Colorado, he released his second book, Cry Father, in 2014 and his third, Evasion, very recently (September 2018). Pike’s popularity is to such an extent that it is presently being made into a movie by Olivier Marchal.

Each year, the Quais du Polar festival invites an author to come meet their fans in autumn. Benjamin Whitmer is next in line after David Vann, Ron Rash, Qiu Xaolong, Cilla and Rolf Börjlind. This takes place through two encounters: one for a younger audience, classes of high schoolers, and the other in the evening, open to the general public.

Meet Benjamin Whitmer on October 4th at Rive Gauche Library, thanks to Quais du Polar

This time around, the meeting with Whitmer will be on October 4th 2018 at the Rive Gauche library.

The 2:00 to 4:00 PM session will be reserved for an exchange with high school classes who have read Pike and have prepared for the encounter beforehand, thanks to the help of an interpreter who will be present that day. It is free to sign up for this session but also mandatory: you can find the email address on Quai du Polar’s website.

The rest of his readers can then meet him from 7:00 to 9:00 PM and the interview portion will be followed by a freer exchange time between Whitman and his fans where drinks will be served. Once again, it is completely free and open to all but it is recommended you sign up here.
